Trichostigma octandrum merupakan tumbuhan perdu atau pohon dari famili Petiveriaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh menjalar. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan hoopvine. Nama ilmiah Trichostigma octandrum pertama kali dipublikasikan pada tahun 1909.
