Trigonella maritima merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Mediterania tengah dan tenggara. Nama ilmiah Trigonella maritima pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alire Raffeneau Delile pada tahun 1817.
