Ulex erinaceus merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Portugal barat daya. Nama ilmiah Ulex erinaceus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich Welwitsch pada tahun 1852.
