Ulex europaeus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Eropa barat dan tengah, Aljazair. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan Gorse, common gorse, furze, atau whin. Nama ilmiah Ulex europaeus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
