Urochloa ophryodes merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko timur laut. Nama ilmiah Urochloa ophryodes pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Mary Agnes Chase pada tahun 1993.
