Urochloa trichopodioides merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Ethiopia selatan hingga RD Kongo timur dan Tanzania. Nama ilmiah Urochloa trichopodioides diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Christian Mez pada tahun 2003.
