Vallisneria gracilis merupakan tumbuhan air (hidrofit) dari famili Hydrocharitaceae yang hidup menahun. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Australia utara. Nama ilmiah Vallisneria gracilis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Frederick Manson Bailey pada tahun 1889.
