Vallisneria spiralis adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan air (hidrofit) dari famili Hydrocharitaceae yang hidup menahun. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Indo-China dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Vallisneria spiralis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1753.
