Vellozia asperula merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Velloziaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Minas Gerais). Nama ilmiah Vellozia asperula diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius pada tahun 1823.
