Verbaskum adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Scrophulariaceae yang memiliki siklus hidup dua musim (biennial). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Verbascum thapsus ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Azores, Eropa hingga Siberia dan Himalaya. Nama ilmiah Verbascum thapsus diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
