Vernonia colorata merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Cape Verde, kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Vernonia colorata diperkenalkan oleh Carl Ludwig von Willdenow pada tahun 1900.
