Vernonia subsimplex merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari Sumatra. Nama ilmiah Vernonia subsimplex diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel pada tahun 1861.
