Vicia sativa subsp. amphicarpa merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kepulauan Kanaria, Mediterania, hingga Afghanistan. Nama ilmiah Vicia sativa subsp. amphicarpa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jules Aimé Battandier pada tahun 1889.
