Vicoa indica merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di kawasan tropis dan subtropis Afrika, Eropa dan Asia. Nama ilmiah Vicoa indica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Augustin Pyramus de Candolle pada tahun 1834.
