Vitex ferruginea merupakan tumbuhan perdu atau pohon dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan tumbuh menjalar. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Vitex ferruginea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Heinrich Christian Friedrich Schumacher pada tahun 1827.
