Woodwardia areolata merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Aspleniaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Nova Scotia hingga Amerika Serikat bagian tengah dan timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan netted chainfern. Nama ilmiah Woodwardia areolata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Thomas Moore pada tahun 1857.
