Gringsingan adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan semusim dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering. Nama ilmiah Hyptis suaveolens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Pierre Antoine Poiteau pada tahun 1806.
