Mimosa pigra adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Di Indonesia tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan nama baret atau putri malu besar. Nama ilmiah Mimosa pigra diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1755.
