Salfia merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Salvia splendens ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Rio de Janeiro). Salfia juga dikenal dengan sebutan lain yaitu bunga salfia. Nama ilmiah Salvia splendens diperkenalkan oleh Friedrich Sellow (Sello) pada tahun 1821.
