Jatang adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Adenostemma lavenia ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di kawasan Asia tropis dan subtropis. Nama ilmiah Adenostemma lavenia diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Ernst Otto Kuntze pada tahun 1891.
