Alternanthera echinocephala merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Galápagos. Nama ilmiah Alternanthera echinocephala pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Joseph Dalton Hooker pada tahun 1932.
