Atriplex patens merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa timur hingga Asia tengah. Nama ilmiah Atriplex patens diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Dmitrij Ivanovitsch Litvinov pada tahun 1927.
