Atriplex rosea merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Mediterania dan Asia tengah. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tumbling saltweed. Nama ilmiah Atriplex rosea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1763.
