Chamaecrista nictitans var. praetexta merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Nama ilmiah Chamaecrista nictitans var. praetexta pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Julius Rudolph Theodor Vogel pada tahun 1982.
