Chenopodium petiolare merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Selatan bagian barat hingga Chili utara dan tengah. Nama ilmiah Chenopodium petiolare pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Sigismund Kunth pada tahun 1817.
