Chenopodium scabricaule merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Argentina barat dan selatan. Nama ilmiah Chenopodium scabricaule diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carlo Luigi (Carlos Luis) Spegazzini pada tahun 1907.
