Pacing putih merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Costaceae. Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk akar rimpang. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah. Nama ilmiah Costus speciosus diperkenalkan oleh Johann Gerhard Koenig pada tahun 1791. Nama ini merupakan sinonim dari Hellenia speciosa.
