Diplotropis purpurea merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Nama ilmiah Diplotropis purpurea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Louis Claude Marie Richard pada tahun 1939.
