Urang aring adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Nama ilmiah Eclipta alba diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Justus Carl Hasskarl pada tahun 1848. Nama spesies ini merupakan sinonim dari Eclipta prostrata.
