Eleocharis aurea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko timur laut. Nama ilmiah Eleocharis aurea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Otto Boeckeler pada tahun 1888.
