Eleocharis maculosa merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Nama ilmiah Eleocharis maculosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Martin Vahl pada tahun 1817.
