Eleocharis ochrostachys merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan Asia tropis dan subtropis hingga Pasifik barat. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan spikerush. Nama ilmiah Eleocharis ochrostachys diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Ernst Gottlieb von Steudel pada tahun 1854.
