Eleocharis pachycarpa merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Amerika Selatan bagian selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan black sand spikerush. Nama ilmiah Eleocharis pachycarpa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Étienne-Émile Desvaux pada tahun 1854.
