Empetrum rubrum merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Ericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Chili selatan dan selatan-tengah hingga Argentina selatan dan Tristan da Cunha. Nama ilmiah Empetrum rubrum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Martin Vahl pada tahun 1806.
