Euphorbia cheirolepis merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Iran hingga Pakistan dan Asia tengah. Nama ilmiah Euphorbia cheirolepis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Friedrich Ernst Ludwig von Fischer pada tahun 1850.
