Froelichia floridana merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat bagian tengah dan timur hingga Meksiko timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan plains snakecotton. Nama ilmiah Froelichia floridana pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Thomas Nuttall pada tahun 1849.
