Gamanthus commixtus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Asia tengah hingga Afghanistan. Nama ilmiah Gamanthus commixtus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Alexander Andrejewitsch von Bunge pada tahun 1862.
