Gardenia tinneae merupakan tumbuhan semak dari famili Rubiaceae (suku kopi-kopian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk akar rimpang. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Chad, Rep. Afrikan Tengah, Sudan Selatan (Bahr-el-Ghazal). Nama ilmiah Gardenia tinneae diperkenalkan oleh Carl Georg Theodor Kotschy pada tahun 1865.
