Gomphrena decipiens merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil barat-tengah (hingga Minas Gerais). Nama ilmiah Gomphrena decipiens diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Moritz August Seubert pada tahun 1875.
