Hydrocotyle verticillata merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Araliaceae (suku mangkok-mangkokan) yang dapat tumbuh di media yang tergenang air (helofit). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari New World, Somalia hingga Afrika Selatan, Madagaskar, Kaukasia hingga Iran utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan whorled marshpennywort. Nama ilmiah Hydrocotyle verticillata diperkenalkan oleh Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1798.
