Hyptis alata subsp. rugosula merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil selatan hingga Argentina timur laut. Nama ilmiah Hyptis alata subsp. rugosula pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Isaac Briquet pada tahun 1983.
