Hyptis tetragona merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Lamiaceae (suku nilam-nilaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil barat-tengah hingga Paraguay. Nama ilmiah Hyptis tetragona pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Baptist Emanuel Pohl pada tahun 1833.
