Jacobaea vulgaris merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Mongolia dan Kaukasia. Nama ilmiah Jacobaea vulgaris diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Joseph Gaertner pada tahun 1791.
