Jatropha guaranitica adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Paraguay (Caaguazu). Nama ilmiah Jatropha guaranitica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carlo Luigi (Carlos Luis) Spegazzini pada tahun 1883.
