Batavia merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Jatropha integerrima ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Kuba barat (termasuk Pulau de la Juventud). Nama ilmiah Jatropha integerrima diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin pada tahun 1763.
