Jatropha martiusii merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia). Nama ilmiah Jatropha martiusii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johann Baptist Emanuel Pohl pada tahun 1864.
