Jatropha ribifolia merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil timur laut (and Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul). Nama ilmiah Jatropha ribifolia diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johann Baptist Emanuel Pohl pada tahun 1864.
