Lachnagrostis uda merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim dingin (subalpin atau subarktik) di wilayah Pulau Selatan Selandia Baru. Nama ilmiah Lachnagrostis uda diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Elizabeth Edgar pada tahun 1995.
