Leucothoe axillaris merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Ericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian tenggara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan coastal doghobble. Nama ilmiah Leucothoe axillaris diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jean-Baptiste Lamarck pada tahun 1834.
