Malvaviscus arboreus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Malvaceae (suku kapas-kapasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Trinidad dan Peru. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan wax mallow. Nama ilmiah Malvaviscus arboreus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johann Jacob Dillenius pada tahun 1787.
